INSTRUCTION

Exercise 1: Quantifiable Information
- Quantify raw data and visualize information as a photograph
- Visual representation of numerical data that allows for easy interpretation and analysis.

Instruction:
Gather a set of objects and separate it into category such as color, shape, pattern, and other quantifiable factor.
Example:

1. Box of Lego
2. Jar of button
3. Jar of marble ball
4. Set of colourful rubber strap & more.

In this exercise you're required to quantify our chosen objects and arrange them into a presentable layout or chart
The information must be presented as is, and you need to arrange the objects with relevant indicators written out with pens to help you to visualize the quantity and data. The examples of objects that can be use are buttons, coins, lego pieces, M&Ms, and more.

Submission:
E-Portfolio report consists of

1. Photo of the random objects before sorting out
2. Objects sorted out by categories (2 - 5 category)
3. Write and design the information on a piece of papers (A3 drawing paper)

Progress
#Data
For the first step "data", I choose sticks for this exercise. These sticks have 6 colours which are red, yellow, blue, purple, orange, and green.

#Sorted
For this step, I sorted these sticks by their colour. I sorted them on the table first then put them on the paper and labelled their colour out.

#Arranged
I try to arrange the sticks by rhythm. I also changed the stick by different colours to have different volumes. The stick is arranged from left to right. The left stick goes down when the stick goes to the middle it starts to go up. I also list down the volume of different sticks.

#Visually
For this step, I try to imagine the stick can be what thing. Then I noticed that these sticks could be the ice cream stick. So, I liken different coloured sticks to different flavours of ice cream. The red colour stick is strawberry flavour ice cream. The blue colour one is blueberry flavour ice cream. The purple one is a grape flavour. The yellow one is banana flavour. Orange one is orange flavour and the green colour is green tea flavour ice cream.

#Story
I am a girl who really likes to eat ice cream. The top 1 ice cream that I most like is strawberry flavour. The red colour and strawberry sweetness make me like to eat strawberry flavour ice cream. The top 2s ice cream that I like to eat is banana and grape flavour. I don't hate or like these two fruit so these two flavour ice cream. The green tea flavour is one of my top 3 is because I don't like the bitter taste. The blueberry and orange flavours are my top 3 is because I don't like the sour taste.

Exercise 2- L.A.T.C.H Infographic Poster
INSTRUCTION:

1. Organize a group of information into a visual poster that combines and utilizes the LATCH principles (Minimum 4).

2. You are required to use the digital photo editing/illustration software available to assemble the information into a LATCH infographic poster.

3. You are allowed to reuse back the images but you have to create the rest of visuals to complete the poster.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Size resolution: 1240 × 1750 pixels or 2048 × 2048 pixels.
2. Progress and submission link on E-Portfolio.

SUBMISSION:
1. Final poster attached to this submission.
2. E-Portfolio link attached to this submission.

#Ideation
When I received this exercise, I tried to think about my topic for this project. The first idea that came to my mind was the Crayon Shin-chan film. However, after I had done the research, I discovered that there are up to 31 Crayon Shin-chan movies from before to now. There are too many. I am afraid that one A4 size cannot put all the information so I am trying to think about another topic that I can do. Then I realised that I could do the poster about my favourite KPOP group, BTS. In the poster, I will introduce each of the members.

After I confirm the topic I want to do, I start to do the research to collect their data.

L.A.T.C.H
A (alphabet)- Name of each member
T (time)- Birthday of each member
C (category)- MBTI, Zodiac Sign and attribute
H (hierarchy)- Age Order: Jin > Suga > J-Hope > RM > Jimin > V > Jungkook

#References
I tried to find so references from Pinterest. Then, I will do the poster style like the reference below.
The references I found are the same type. They put each member's picture and drew and wrote some information and some cute elements.

#Sketches
I draw out 3 sketches of the layout.

Sketch#1
Sketch #2
Sketch #3
I chose sketch#3 of my final poster layout.

#Digitisation
I tried to find their pic from the internet and do the layout first. I will do this exercise in Photoshop.
After that, I turn the picture into black and white because the information I will use the colourful colour and the black & white pictures will make the information easy to see. I also list their full name below their photo.
Then, I put their stage name, MBTI and their birthday into the poster. Their stage name colour is their mic colour. Their mic has its own colour:
Jin- pink mic
Suga- black mic
J Hope- red mic
RM- blue mic
Jimin- yellow mic
V- green mic
Jungkook- purple mic
The MBTI also follow the MBTI colour which is:
INFP INFJ- Green
ISTP ESTP- Yellow
ENTP INTP- Purple
After I draw their attribute, zodiac signs and some cute elements. I draw some cute elements for the attribute, like their ear, footsteps, food, noses, whiskers and the animal. For the zodiac signs, I draw their symbol to represent them.
Finally, I think the title is not good enough so I change to a new title.

REFLECTION

Exercise 1
In Exercise 1, I learned how to transform scattered and disorganized data into a complete and coherent story. This exercise was divided into five steps, and each step helped me gradually organize the information in a structured manner.

Among all the steps, the one where I learned the most was the story-building step. This phase challenged my ability to associate and connect the data with meaningful narratives. I had to think creatively and critically about how to link seemingly unrelated information into a story that made sense. It was also an opportunity to train my imagination and storytelling skills, pushing me to find connections that weren’t immediately obvious.

Through this exercise, I realized the importance of context in storytelling—how the same data can lead to different narratives depending on how it’s presented. This skill will be especially useful in future design projects, where creating a meaningful story can make my work more impactful and engaging.

Exercise 2
In Exercise 2, I learned how to integrate various types of information into a single poster design. This exercise taught me that conveying information doesn’t rely solely on text; visuals such as symbols, colours, and layout play a crucial role in enhancing communication.

One of the key takeaways was how visual elements can provide information just as effectively—if not more so—than words. For example, using specific colors to represent different emotions or themes, or adding icons to guide viewers' attention can help simplify complex information. I also discovered that small details, like the placement of images or the consistency of fonts, can significantly affect the clarity and impact of a poster.

This exercise made me more aware of the balance between text and visuals, teaching me to be mindful of visual hierarchy and composition to ensure that the most important information stands out. It also helped me develop a better sense of how to use design elements strategically to create a more engaging and informative poster.
