INSTRUCTION

Project 4: Abstract Motion & E-portfolio
I will synthesize the knowledge gained from Tasks 1, 2, and 3 for this project to create a theme-based abstract motion graphic video. The video will have strong audio-visual elements and can be in 3D, 2D, mixed media, or experimental visuals. It needs to effectively convey the chosen theme.

Before I started storyboarding, I tried to brainstorm the theme I wanted to do. My first thought was what I could do about celebrating the festival because festivals are a good way to express inspiration. When doing this project, While working on this project, Christmas and New Year are coming up. After thinking about it I decided to make videos about the New Year.

Progress

Progress in AE
For the opening, I used the trim part.

I use the wave wrap effect to do the wave.
I adjust the position and create a clipping mask to create the time-rolling effect.

Firework I also used the trim path to make it.
For the snake tongue, I used the puppet tool to make it shacking.
I also do the Happy New Year fireworks.

Firstly, type the word and randomly colour. Then, make a pre-compose.
Add one more stroke layer. Set the colour white. Add the tint effect. Then change the white colour to black.Ctrl+d one more layer and set the layer below alpha matte luma matte. Make the pre-compose again.
Add the CC Pixel Polly effect. Gravity set 0.1. Force set13. Grid spacing set 1. Set the object to square. Copy one more layer. Change the force to 30. Grid spacing change to 2. Speed randomness set 20 and spinning set 2. Then set the keyframe of force. Then set pre-compose.
Add the radial blur effect. Type change to zoom. Make the amount number bigger until it becomes blurry. Then set the keyframe. Scale keyframe also needs to be set. Then F9 those keyframes. Adjust the time remap and set the keyframe. Make them pre-compose.
Ctrl+d the layer. Add the CC force motion blur effect. Shutter angle set 3600. Set the opacity keyframe. Add the adjustment layer. Add tint effect. Set colour. Add glow effect. Glow threshold set 50 and glow radius set 30. Add one more glow effect. Set the radius to 200.

Final outcome video

Reflection

In this project, I learned a lot of new things. One part that stood out to me was creating the final fireworks scene, which went through many steps. It took time and effort, but I managed to make a fireworks effect that looks quite realistic.

While working on the fireworks, I also learned how to use several effects that were new to me. For example, I explored the CC Pixel Polly effect, which helped create the look of exploding particles, the CC Force Motion Blur, which made the motion look smoother and more dynamic, and the Tint effect, which added colour adjustments to enhance the scene.

This process taught me not only how to use these tools but also how different effects can work together to create something visually impressive.
