INSTRUCTION
Project 1A: Character Design
In this project, we need to create a character design that should reflect his or her personality in the story and be visually appealing to the targeted audience. We need to create a character reference sheet, character expression sheet, character turnaround sheet, and character pose sheet.
Progress
I decided to create a character which is a small and timid girl. She seems
optimistic. She is a big fan of superhero comics. She dreams of becoming a
superhero. Her little body looks like it's hiding a lot of power.
Character
Name: Lyra
Name: Lyra
Gender: Female
Age: 10 years old
Characteristics: curious, imaginative, love superheroes and love of being
one
Ideation
Before start drawing the character, I found some references from Pinterest.

Character Reference Sheet
I try to draw the sketch by referring to these references using Adobe
Photoshop.
Because it was too complicated I deleted the sword. I changed the bone shape
of the hair clip to the Avenger logo "A" shape hair clip to show her love for
superheroes.
After doing the line drawing, I start to fill it in colour.

Feedback
-For the character reference sheet, can make the lines of the bag thicker
and the other is fine.
-For the character turnaround sheet, can add lines to ensure the character
sides are at the same height. =The size of those sheets can change to be the
same.
Final Output
Character Reference sheet
Character Turnaround Sheet

Project 1B: Layout Design
In Project 1B, we need to create layout designs for an animated project using perspective. Our designs will be used as backgrounds for various scenes in the animation. Our goal is to create visually interesting and dynamic layouts that enhance the story and the mood of the animation.
Progress
Layout design without colour
Layout design with colour
layout design with the shadow of trees
Feedback
-Can remove the cloud to leave some empty space
-the building in the middle can be removed because the perspective of it
is wrong
-The main character better not be covered by shadows
Final output
Reflection
Project 1A: Character Design
In Project 1A, we focused on designing a character that fits into a story and shows their personality. Creating a character reference sheet helped me think about the character's appearance, like their clothes and colours. Making the character expression sheet was challenging but fun because I learned how to use different facial expressions to show emotions. The character turnaround sheet was useful for ensuring the character looked consistent from all angles. Finally, the character pose sheet helped me experiment with body language and poses that matched the character's personality.
Project 1B: Layout Design
In Project 1B, we worked on designing layouts for backgrounds in an animated project using perspective. This project taught me how to use perspective to create a sense of depth and space, making the scenes more interesting. I learned how to balance elements in a scene to guide the viewer’s eye and create the right mood for the story. This helped me understand how layouts can influence the pacing and tone of an animation.
