Project 3: Digital Triptych

Choose a story from the linked website. Break down the narrative of the chosen story into 3-act structures of Introduction - Climax - Epilogue. Then create 3 panels digital triptych illustrating each of the act.

Consider the interesting twists in the plots of each act, and include these into the design.

Or you can highlight the notable icons or symbolisms that occur in these acts.

Think of creating a premise preview for the story to make readers intrigued.

The challenges are:
1. Only one story from this website: https://poestories.com/stories.php
2. No, you cannot use other story than the ones from the website
3. Visuals are displayed in a series of three
4. Include short non-spoiler text for each act

Progress
The story I choose is 'The Oblong Box'
Summary
Introduction:
"The Oblong Box" is a short story by Edgar Allan Poe. The narrator, an unnamed individual, becomes intrigued by a mysterious oblong box brought on board a steamship by a fellow passenger named Cornelius Wyatt. The box emits strange sounds and is closely guarded, piquing the narrator's curiosity.

Climax:
As the journey progresses, the narrator's curiosity intensifies, and he becomes obsessed with uncovering the contents of the box. He speculates that it may hold valuable artwork or a rare specimen. The narrator also notices peculiar behavior from Wyatt's wife, who exhibits signs of deep sorrow and constant weeping. The ship encounters stormy weather, further fueling the narrator's fascination.
ragedy strikes when the ship is caught in a severe storm, resulting in the sinking of the vessel. The narrator survives by clinging to debris. Amidst the chaos, he spots the oblong box floating on the water. To his horror, he witnesses Wyatt desperately clinging to the box, attempting to save it.

Epilogue:
After the storm subsides, the narrator is rescued and brought to safety. He later learns that Wyatt's wife did not survive the disaster. The oblong box, which the narrator believed to contain a valuable treasure, is revealed to hold the body of Wyatt's deceased wife. The strange sounds emitted from the box were her cries of grief and anguish.
"The Oblong Box" explores themes of curiosity, obsession, and the consequences of prying into the lives of others. It serves as a cautionary tale, warning against the dangers of unchecked curiosity and meddling in the affairs of others.

Reflection
Creating a digital triptych has encouraged me to engage in conceptual thinking and develop a visual narrative. When crafting a cohesive triptych, I found myself carefully considering the relationship between the images, their placement, and the story they collectively convey. This process compelled me to delve deeper into my artistic intentions, allowing me to explore the themes, emotions, or ideas that I wished to express through my work. By honing my conceptual thinking skills, I have learned to communicate my vision more effectively, fostering a deeper connection with the viewer.
